Moises Caicedo Urges Brighton to Allow Him To Leave the Club

Moises Caicedo, who plays for Brighton & Hove Albion, has issued a public statement on social media, urging the Seagulls to allow him to leave the club after Arsenal made a £60m bid for the Ecuadorian midfielder.

Moises Caicedo has attracted transfer interest from both Chelsea and Arsenal, who are aiming to reinforce their midfield department before the January transfer window slams shut.

Of the two clubs, Chelsea were the first to table a bid for the 21-year-old midfielder. However, Brighton & Hove Albion turned down the Stamford Bridge outfit’s bid of £55m for the highly-rated midfielder.

Arsenal, who are the Premier League table-toppers, then made a bid for Moises Caicedo, which was higher than what Chelsea had previously tabled. However, Brighton once again chose to reject the approach as they turned down the bid of £60m.

While Brighton does not want to sell Moises Caicedo in the January transfer window, the Ecuadorian midfielder has made a public plea to the Seagulls to allow him to leave the club.

In his post on social media, Moises Caicedo said he hopes the Brighton fans will understand why he wants to ‘take up this magnificent opportunity’.

“I am grateful to Mr. Bloom and Brighton for giving me the chance to come to the Premier League and I feel I have always done my best for them. I always play football with a smile and with heart,” Moises Caicedo wrote.

He added: “I am the youngest of 10 siblings from a poor upbringing in Santa Domingo in Ecuador. My dream was always to be the most decorated player in the history of Ecuador.

“I am proud to be able to bring in a record transfer fee for Brighton which would allow them to reinvest it and help the club continue to be successful.

“The fans have taken me into their hearts and they will always be in my heart so I hope they can understand why I want to take up this magnificent opportunity.”

It remains to be seen if Brighton & Hove Albion will allow Moises Caicedo to leave the club in the January transfer window. Prior to Caicedo’s public statement, Brighton & Hove Albion manager Roberto De Zerbi had urged the midfielder to stay at the club until the end of the season.
